LAW DISTRIBUTION LTD CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) RESPONSE

Law Distribution Ltd is closely monitoring the developments around the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to delivering our services to the highest possible standard, without putting the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers at risk.  We understand the importance of co-operating with our staff and customers during times of uncertainty and a continually evolving situation to ensure the correct procedures are in place for the safe continuation of business.

Public Health England has advised that people receiving goods are not at risk of contracting the virus.  From experience with other coronaviruses, we know that these types of viruses do not survive long on objects such as pallets or paperwork.  This complements the highly publicised advice from Public Health England for people to wash their hands more often than usual using soap and hot water.

In order to protect both our staff and customers Law Distribution Ltd employees will not be handing over handheld devices to customers to capture signatures.  Our drivers will instead log the name of the person accepting the delivery. This will apply to all deliveries requiring electronic signatures from tomorrow 20th March 2020.

As per government guidelines we will be asking our drivers to maintain a distance of 2 metres from customers when they are making deliveries, as well as applying common sense and methods such as washing their hands and avoiding touching their face when they are handling and requesting signatures on paperwork.

We would also ask that at this time, paperwork is kept to a minimum, and should only be printed / provided when absolutely necessary.  We are able to provide proof of delivery with a customer name, which is entered onto our drivers’ handheld devices.

Additionally, for customers receiving deliveries to their home address we will safely deliver the item by placing the item at your door, then having knocked your door, our driver will step aside to a safe distance whilst you retrieve your items – this will ensure secure delivery rather than being left unattended.

We have business continuity plans in place for a variety of potential incidents, including the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and we are pleased to report there is no current impact to our teams or the services that we provide.

As part of our business continuity framework we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, to allow us to respond appropriately.

 This includes:
• Monitoring of the advice and guidance issued by the UK Government, Public Health England and the World Health Organisation
• Monitoring of reported cases and infection rates
• Monitoring of travel advice for staff travelling within or outside of the UK
• Reducing any non-essential travel
• Internal monitoring of absence levels in line with typical measures at this time of year
• Internal communications to provide updates to our staff
• Introduction of additional temporary cleaning methods that provide supplementary robust safeguards

In addition to taking advice from leading public authorities, we are ready to action any appropriate and precautionary measures should this be necessary, as detailed in our action plan, in the event of a suspected or confirmed case on one of our sites.

As this situation is unlike anything previously experienced, we are taking every precaution to ensure we are prepared.  We will continue to monitor for new developments as the situation unfolds and adapt our policies accordingly. However, if you require any further information please liaise with our Operations Director John Law who will be able to provide further assistance or documentation.  He will be contactable via email and telephone between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00.
